AL-KO VTE: the ONDA Smart System brings all of your onboard power supply data to your cell phone
AL-KO VTE is catapulting older motorhomes into the digital age with the ONDA Smart System.
Whether it’s your battery power’s exact charge level or an overview of your onboard solar cells’ charge management, the system transmits all the data to your cell phone in real time via Bluetooth – so you can keep charge levels and consumption under control at all times. The first devices will be delivered to customers in the second quarter of 2025.
Do you have everything you need on board to survive even long downtimes without a stationary power connection? But you don’t know your overall electricity consumption rate or your batteries’ exact charge level? And until now you’ve only been estimating how much power is coming in via the solar cells? The ONDA Smart System app and associated hardware have been specially developed to provide you with precise, real-time information about your motorhome’s autonomous power supply at all times – wirelessly via Bluetooth on your cell phone.
The app bundles together the information from the battery chargers, solar power and generator in one place. A user-friendly interface displays the data and gives you the overview you need. This way you can ensure that you don’t run out of ‘juice’ when you're out and about.
Intelligent battery management
The Battery Duo System (BDS) 200 manages the charging and discharging of two 12-volt service batteries. It can intelligently manage two batteries of different ages up to a maximum load of 100 amperes each. Continuous monitoring makes it possible to automatically isolate and report a faulty battery. It does not matter whether the batteries are lithium or lead-acid.
The BDS200 calculates the remaining battery life as well as the exact charge level. This is a clear advantage over the usual estimated values of a simple LED charge indicator. The device supplies all data to the ONDA Smart System app on your cell phone via the integrated Bluetooth interface.
Solar power under control
The solar charge regulator PRM400 from AL-KO VTE ensures that your batteries are optimally charged using solar power. It automates the control of the electricity coming from the solar cells. Lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries are powered up in an equally protective and life cycle-extending manner. Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) technology is used for this. This gets the most out of its photovoltaic modules and maximizes charging efficiency.
MPPT is around 20% more efficient than pulse width modulation (PWM) technology, for example. In addition to the ONDA Smart System app, the PRM400 can also display its information on a permanently installed panel (PT742) or make it available via AL-KO VTE’s own CL bus system in the leisure vehicle’s on-board network.
Keep a close eye on current consumption and remaining battery life
The AM500 is an ampere meter which gives you a clear overview of your current power consumption and your batteries’ charge level, state of health and projected remaining life. You can use it to manage up to 500 amps.
Like the other devices from the ONDA Smart System, the AL-KO VTE ampere meter can also output the information both via the system app on your cell phone and via AL-KO VTE’s own CL bus system. All three device types transmit your data to your cell phone via Bluetooth. This makes it easy to install each individual device. Complicated laying of data cables is a thing of the past.
